The Dinner Table at Love Makoto (DC)
What happens
A Dinner Party With Strangers & New Friends In DC
A 3-course Japanese izakaya dinner from a chef who trained under Morimoto and appeared on Iron Chef. A buzzy, high-energy space inspired by Japan's late-night food culture. A room full of interesting people you haven't met yet — and seat rotations that guarantee you will.
This is The Dinner Table Club: a dinner party with strangers that somehow feels like dinner with friends by the end of the night.
_"The demographic of attendees was awesome, and exactly what I am looking for."_ — DC Guest
How It Works
You'll arrive at Love, Makoto on Massachusetts Avenue and meet the group over a complimentary glass of wine. Once everyone's settled in, we'll sit down for a 3-course family-style Japanese dinner, with two seat rotations between courses so you meet everyone at the table. Our host facilitates the evening with light conversation prompts and seat rotations. By dessert, you'll have exchanged numbers with people you'll actually want to see again.
About the Venue
Love, Makoto is Celebrity Chef Makoto Okuwa's return to Washington, DC — a culinary love letter to the city where he launched his career at Sushi Taro over two decades ago. In the years since, he's been head sushi chef for Masaharu Morimoto, appeared on Iron Chef, and opened restaurants spanning Miami, Mexico City, and São Paulo.
This is our second time hosting at Love, Makoto, and we couldn't be more excited to host The Dinner Table community back at one of DC's most ambitious restaurants.

- We've created gendered tickets to ensure a relatively even distribution of guests at our events. GA is open to anyone. 3. Can I come alone?
- Yes, we encourage it! Our goal at The Dinner Table is to create meaningful connections through cuisine and art. Many of our guests leave with new friends at the end of the event. 4. What is your refund policy?
- We understand sometimes things come up, and that's why we offer a full credit to your next event if you cancel ten days before the event 5. Are you able to accommodate dietary restrictions and allergies?
