What happens
Friends of the Mount Vernon Trail and the George Washington Memorial Parkway lead an evening walk under the Beaver Moon. The group walks south on the Mount Vernon Trail taking in night views of the monuments, then stops near Memorial Bridge to learn about the moon and look at planets and stars through a telescope. About 1 mile each way.
Sunday, November 22, 2026, 5:30 to 8:00 PM EST. Meet at the entrance to the footbridge by the Theodore Roosevelt Island parking lot; look for volunteers in hi vis vests. Bring a flashlight and layers. Cancelled if it rains.
