What happens
Spend a Thanksgiving weekend morning outside with Friends of the Mount Vernon Trail, trimming vegetation along the trail north of Memorial Bridge and pulling invasive English Ivy off trees. No special skills needed; volunteers get a quick how to and work alongside each other with pruners, loppers and rakes.
Saturday, November 28, 2026, 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM EST. Meet on the trail between Theodore Roosevelt Island and Memorial Bridge (about a 0.7 mile walk south of the Roosevelt Island lot; the Eventbrite page has a map of the start spot).
Free, register on Eventbrite. Bring water, gloves, long sleeves and long pants; some tools and gloves available to borrow.
